The regeneration of Maidenhead town centre, the arrival of CrossRail and the building of lots of new homes will increase the need for parking within the town centre.
We know parking is a big concern for residents and quite rightly it has been one of the issues consistently raised by residents when we are out and about around the local area.
That is why our Maidenhead Parking Strategy will deliver almost 1,900 new car parking spaces in Maidenhead over the coming years, including a new car park along Vicus Way (next to Lidl) and a new Nicholsons Car Park.
However we do not want Maidenhead to come to standstill during the regeneration of the town centre, so there will be lots of temporary car parking spaces on the Landing site, once the site has been cleared, and on St Clouds Way (the site of the Tenpin bowling alley).
These temporary car parking sites will ensure that there is no reduction in the overall number of car parking spaces available to residents whilst the town centre is being regenerated.
In the long term, we will be investing £50 million into the new state-of-the-art Nicholsons car park will deliver 1,350 new spaces and the new Vicus Way car park with have 520. This is a massive investment into Maidenhead to ensure that we truly deliver a borough that works for everyone.
